Hi! Prior to starting my private practice, I completed my clinical training in a women's prison and different College Counseling Centers before beginning my speciality in counseling adolescents and adults with Eating Disorders. In the years leading up to becoming a licensed therapist, I enjoyed a career working as a Certified Athletic Trainer with student athletes on the high school and college levels and in particular with college ballet dancers.
I completed my M.S. in Clinical Community Counseling from Johns Hopkins University and both a B.S. and M.S. in Kinesiology with an Emphasis in Athletic Training from Indiana University, Bloomington.
As a former ballet dancer myself, having danced from age six through college, I am keenly aware of the struggles common amongst both artists and competitive athletes. I believe that therapy is a collaborative journey between therapist and client, exploring the client’s inner world, developing insight, and simply deepening self-understanding using a compassionate and strengths-based approach. My therapeutic approach is warm, empathic, and grounded in Interpersonal, Humanistic, and Psychodynamic theory, tailored to the needs of each client. I am also certified as a Nature Informed Therapist through the Center for Nature Informed Therapy and am honored to add therapy in a natural setting to my practice- integrating mental health care with nature’s restorative and healing powers.
